Is Oracle EBS end of life? NO!

Nearly two years ago, I published this piece about Oracle’s exciting announcement to extend support until 2032. But what’s become clear is that even with Oracle’s announcement, the “end of life” panic and worry seem to remain.

I can’t tell you how common it has been the past month to hear senior-level executives asking me what they should do about their Oracle EBS system. When I inquire further and ask what they mean, the response is always that they heard EBS is “end of life” and they MUST migrate ASAP to the Oracle SAAS cloud products. They feel panicked that they should be preparing to move off of EBS, so they are hesitant to innovate their current system, as they will need to migrate shortly.

This brings me back to an amazing session by Nadia Bendjedou (VP of Oracle EBS Product Strategy at Oracle) that I attended at the UKOUG conference in December. It was so refreshing seeing a senior level executive at Oracle not scaring everyone into moving to the cloud.

She stated very clearly that Oracle EBS is not going anywhere! It has a 10-year rolling support date — meaning once the next version comes out, there will be an additional decade of shelf life — from the moment it is put to market.

Currently, the end of life of Oracle EBS is set only in 2034, so no organization should feel the need to scrap their billion-dollar investment and begin risky, costly, and unnecessary tech projects in order to get rid of it immediately. They can still confidently and successfully leverage these systems with next-generation technologies into the future, including Oracle’s latest user experience features such as Enterprise Command Center and Oracle automation capabilities with RPA.

If you’re running EBS and feeling concerned, I strongly suggest making sure to learn about your system’s full potential before leaving it all behind.
